Systems Engineer – Software/Electrical

We have a new opportunity for a Systems Engineer – Software/Electrical to lead the development and launch of new products that meet and exceed performance requirements to support our sales growth. This position will be located in Orlando, Florida with travel between our offices in Florida and Pennsylvania as required.

Solar Light Company, LLC is located in Glenside, Pennsylvania. Essential Functions

  • Lead internal and external resources to develop and launch products that meet performance requirements, on the agreed project timeline, at the target product cost and within development budget.
  • Develop and implement robust methodologies for testing products during development and production, to ensure that all performance requirements are met or exceeded, including meeting regulatory and industry standards.
  • Work closely with customers, and particularly Beta customers, to capture their requirements input, and using understanding of feasibility, determine product specification priorities and incorporate into the product design.
  • Identify and implement improvements in design and production processes for new products, improving quality and reducing the cost of manufacturing; including working with customers and suppliers, as necessary.
  • Provide support for manufacturing and sales teams, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering – Software, Computer Science, Electrical
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in software programing, including embedded software programming
  • 2-3 years’ experience in customer support or sales roles
  • Experience with opto-mechanical systems, preferably scientific or analytical instruments
  • Spectroscopy experience a plus
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Electronic Technician

We are currently seeking an Electronic Technician for our office in Orlando, Florida who will be responsible for assembling mechanical and electrical products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications in a manufacturing organization. You’ll need to be a self-starter that is able to work independently and under direct supervision. Job Summary

  • Read, interpret and follow, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.
  • Wire, solder, and assemble fabricated components to make electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Fit, align, and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating specifications.
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products.
  • Meet established build time and quality standards.
  • Maintain inventory of product in work stations.
  • Follow all company Safety Policies and Quality Guidelines.
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years mechanical and electrical assembly experience.
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea.
  • Experience with Mini Factories and the Kanban system or willingness to learn.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus Experience

  • Working knowledge of OrCAD PCB and electronic design software.
  • Spectroradiometry / spectroscopy / photonics-based instrumentation experience.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
